Got an itty bitty song in my head
Got an empty paper and a confused pen
Can't write it down, can't dictate it
Can't get it out despite inspiration
I meant to write it as a testament true
I meant to write it for one such as you
I meant to write it but I can't find a start
I meant to write it but it's suddenly so hard
It was a love song that didn't involve me or you
It was a love song that took a Shakespearian cue
It would've been easy if I knew Shakespeare more
But I'm not an educated playwright hailing from Oxford
Unless you go to Oxford to study something else
Then I guess I need a new excuse for myself
I could claim it's a trivial and useless anciently outdated piece
But then you'd just get angry at a notion that I don't really believe
I can listen to all the right songs
To help me focus on what I want
To develop an art to entertain you
Something superficial and overused
I guess in my lyricist's block I wrote something else
A song that I'll probably have shelved
Like a record mogul owning an artist's soul
Who doesn't find the art too marketable
Or maybe I'll find a use for it and find a place
I guess I can save it for a rainy day
I guess I can save it for a rainy day
I guess I can save it for a rainy day
In Adrian Snood’s songs, soulful vocals and slow-moving alt-pop swirl together to create something distinctly moving. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 1, 2023
